“I’m tore down. I’m almost level with the ground” – Freddie King
This is post # 12 in my quest for 30 in 30.
Maintaining your standards in good times is easy. Things are swinging your way, you’re getting where you want to go and life is good. But what about if things should take a turn? Would you be able to keep moving in a positive direction when life was hard? Here are a few thoughts to help you get you’re groove back.
- Keep your eye on the prize.
You started down this path for a reason. At some point you decided that you wanted a better life than the one that you were living and you weren’t going to accept anything less. - Know your role.
You are undoubtedly a part of a big network of people that wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t in the mix. When it seems like things aren’t going well for you, try to think of all the other people that benefit from what you do. Even if you’re not seeing the results you would like keep working hard for the others who count on you. At some point each and every one of them will return the favor. - Success breeds success.
I recently wrote a three part series on how to avoid failure. Take a look at these for review. One of the basic messages is to keep doing what you know works. A wise woman once reminded me that baby steps are still steps. - Celebrate the little things.
When is seems like nothing is swinging your way it’s nice to take a closer look at your life and regain some perspective. In doing so, take time to appreciate all of the little things that make a difference in your life. Remember, getting out of bed each day is a win. Anything else is gravy. - Nothing lasts forever.
Always remember that no matter how hard things get, no matter how far away the light at the end of the tunnel can seem, things are going to get better. They may get worse first but they will turn around at some point. Have the will to see it through.
Keep these things in mind and you’ll be through your rough spot in no time.
Thanks for being here. Talk to you tomorrow.
